There are two mountain ranges, Kyrenia in the north and Troödos in the south. Between them in the interior is a flat, treeless plain. There are no major rivers in Cyprus,only lakes.

Good time to visit: March to November. Best time is March to May.
March to May: Spring. Warm. March can be wet with six rainy days. Occasional rainstorms occur in April and May but they are short, then sunny blue skies return.  March and April are colourful months with citrus trees and flowers in bloom.

June to August: Summer. Rainless. Warm to hot. July and August are the hottest months. Coastal temperatures are tempered by breezes from the sea that cool the land but make the nights balmy. Temperatures in the hills, where there are resorts, are cooler than the lowlands. In late summer the vegetation is brownish.

September to November: Autumn. September is rainless. Although occasional rain may fall in October, the wet season starts in November and continues through to March. Evenings are chilly from October to March. The island’s vegetation is brownish until the rains start.

December to February: Winter. The island is sunny, even in winter. December and January are the rainiest months; January and February are the coldest. Snow falls in the mountains; skiing is possible.
